5 Reasons Why You Should Watch AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL

While a mainstream television show, whether sitcom or drama, features stories with “creative licenses,” reality shows appeal to reality (although from time to time such a concept lends itself to tergiversation to create forced situations and unsolicited reactions). The repetitive proposal proposed by reality shows in which generally the different results guarantee (almost always) the longevity of these shows, longevity for which many regular TV programs must fight. Surprising, isn’t it?

It has also been the case of the successful show AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL. Its formula worked for 17 years, and a total of 24 seasons was aired. Hundreds of aspiring newbie models have done a lot to make this show entertainment that you must be watching if you have not already, and we will give you five reasons to see the show that became a phenomenon of pop culture:

  1. America’s Next Top Model premiered in May 2003. The show consists of choosing between 14 and 15 participants who will coexist while they stay on the show, will have weekly challenges and photo sessions as challenges.
  2. America’s Next Top Model was one of the pioneering programs in breaking beauty standards by including models of different skin colors, sizes, and heights. Even several seasons included unisex editions with a single male winner.
  3. Models from all over the world flocked America’s Next Top Model to learn the art of smize, booty touch, and most importantly: how to build a career in fashion, guided by the host Tyra Banks, who dominated the world of modeling from 1996 (the year she first appeared on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue) until today’s sun.

BONUS

We mentioned before the art of smize, booty touch, and resources that professional models use on the catwalks to look impressive, but did you know they learn other tricks?

SMIZING: A model must handle their face with utmost subtleness, portraying different emotions with the complexity they deserve. Thus, smizing or smiling with your eyes is the best way to communicate without being obvious.

WERK THAT NECK!: As photogenic as the model is, the different contortions of the body can always betray the image. Instead of hiding the neck between raised shoulders, it should be lengthened, creating a stylized silhouette.

ANGLES: Every model should know their best angle and the most flattering profile of their face, prioritizing them beyond the composition of the photo.

ACTING: A model is never just a model but must adapt to the character that the productions propose.

  1. The format proposed by Tyra Banks has been sold and adapted in over 56 countries, including Cambodia, Malta and Vietnam, on the five continents. Who would have thought?
  2. America’s Next Top Model show gives its participants a lift to worldwide popularity and million-dollars contracts with the most successful fashion magazines, like Vogue, with the luxury brands of clothes and couturiers. For example, ex-contestants of ANTM Yaya DaCosta and Analeigh Tipton have both successful modeling careers, and now they are TV and movie stars after leaving the show. And Winnie Harlow was the first model with the skin condition vitiligo, to compete on the show, and has done work for Moschino and Julien Macdonald, as well as walked the 2018 Victoria’s Secret runway.
